Ode to Yesterday
Yesterday I jumped into a dark hole,
Praying for water to embrace me,
Sweep me away.
The hole was mysterious, vacant
Waiting for me.
Nourish me, love me.
Give your body, lose yourself.
I sink towards the hope,
the bottomless, endless, rush.
There's no water to break my fall.
I broke. I gave. I lost.
Today, I'm glancing over the edge of a cliff.
Imagining the gust of a waterfall.
I leap with everything.
Skipping in air, a hopefully smile,
Anticipation.
There's no waterfall.
I keep falling.
Empty, futile plunge.
Only leading to Yesterday.
